I am Vivarshini, a second-year student in Monash Malaysia studying genomics and bioinformatics. I first heard of ICUR in my first year of study at Monash. The idea of being able to present my research was an opportunity I could not let pass. Though I am majoring in genomics, I have always been interested in physiology and medicine. ICUR allowed me to follow my interest and research gastrointestinal cancer and how it spreads to secondary sex organs. Participating in ICUR 2021 as a presenter helped broaden my understanding of research and collaboration. ICUR is an excellent way for undergraduate students to interact with other people who share the same research interest. Through the workshops and training, I also learned how to conduct and communicate research which helped me in my university life. The overall experience of ICUR was enriching and contributed significantly to my personal development. This year as student director, I hope to support more students as they start their journey in research and to contribute to the wonderful experience that is ICUR.
