My name is Chaeyeon, and I’m a Year 2 Bioengineering major at the School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) in NTU. I am currently the Student Director for ICUR 2025.
Beyond the URECA experience as a researcher, I wanted to coordinate workshops and organize international exchange research events where people from diverse backgrounds and various research topics can come together in an interdisciplinary setting. I have always been passionate about managing global networking events, and by taking on the student director role in ICUR, I’m excited to create opportunities for meaningful collaboration, exchange of knowledge, and also gain valuable experience in organizing large-scale events.
My passion in stepping out of my comfort zone has driven me to pursue research, as it fuels my curiosity and challenges me to delve deeper into discovering new or refined knowledge. I am especially interested in tissue engineering and the use of CRISPR-Cas9 technology for curing diseases.
The vision for ICUR 2035 is to make the sharing of interdisciplinary research more engaging and interactive, fostering a vibrant environment for the exchange of knowledge and experiences. I hope to cultivate a space where researchers from different fields can come together to inspire, question, and collaborate. I envision ICUR becoming a hub for research development, where research is not only presented but actively discussed, questioned, and applied in global scale to influence the academia and society at large.
To bring this vision to life, we aim to enhance the level of interaction between presenters and audiences by promoting the event to the broader audience. This means that beyond the NTU community, we would like the ICUR to be more accessible and easily approachable to the wider public. Thus, we would like to encourage more audiences for the physical presentation to foster the sharing research experience.
