Hi everyone, I’m Colin, a final year Sport Science & Management student at Nanyang Technological University. I’m thrilled to be giving back to the NTU and URECA community as a Student Director for ICUR 2025.
If I could summarize what drew me into research, it would be ‘confidence’ and ‘curiosity.’ Having struggled with self-confidence growing up while being inspired by the masterful articulation of science communicators, I discovered that engaging in research not only built my confidence through deeper understanding but also fuelled my curiosity about the world through the lens of scientific inquiry.
My research interests focus on strength & conditioning, body composition, nutrition, physiology, and athletic development & performance. Beyond exercise physiology, I’m also casually interested in human socio-cultural anthropology and various physics-related topics.
While 2025 marks my first year participating in ICUR, I’ve attended and presented at several conferences throughout my undergraduate journey. These experiences have shown me the profound impact a positive conference experience can have on aspiring researchers and academics. My vision for ICUR 2025 is to create an enriching environment where both local and international participants leave inspired—not just within their specializations but also with an appreciation for the transformative potential of interdisciplinary science. To start, I would like to create highlight blogs recapping the conference workshops by summarising the central ideas and making it available even for those who could not attend the sessions live.
